National Security

I believe our National Security interests will be best protected through a Foreign Policy that puts an end to endless warfare and reigns in some of the excesses of our defense budget. The War on Terror hasn’t worked—we’ve lost thousands of American lives and spent trillions of dollars in Afghanistan and Iraq, to little avail. We must protect and expand appropriations that serve the men and women that give their lives for this country, including greatly improving the VA, but we must also recognize that much of the hundreds of billions we spend on defense would better serve our country if reinvested into health care, education, and infrastructure. Finally, we need a Foreign Policy that focuses on assisting our allies through aid and fair trade, rather than one that largely centers on the exportation of weapons.
